Meet Tristi Hendrick!
Tristi Hendrick was born right here in Boise and lived here most of her life. She met her husband, JD just north in beautiful McCall where they were married 3 years later. She studied Christian Ministry in college at Azusa Pacific University where she sung in the choirs and served in her church. The two of them spent a few years in Charlotte, NC pursuing JD’s lifelong calling of becoming a paramedic/firefighter. When the opportunity to move back to Meridian, ID presented itself, Tristi returned home and now lives right now the street from where she grew up.
“I remember when KTSY went on the air when I was about 10 years old. I scraped up allowance and gave because I wanted to listen to Christian music on my clock radio. I thought it was the coolest!” She took KTSY with her to college and beyond by listening online. “It always made me feel like I was home!”
Soon after they returned to the Treasure Valley, the babies started joining the family. They now have three lovely daughters, Natalia (9), Makena (5), and Tessa (2). Tristi has spent the last 9 years at home with the kids and leapt into homeschooling her oldest four years ago. “I love being able to be with my kids and watch them learn, it is one of the most rewarding and challenging things I have ever done.”
Tristi never had her eye on a job in radio but was very intrigued to find out more about the morning show. “I spent a week in the studio and I was hooked!” The mornings are early, the schedule with 3 kids and a shift-working husband is crazy, but God is good. “We prayed about the shift in priorities and left it in God’s hands to work out. I would love to tell you how He did that- just ask me the next time we see each other!”
Working with Dave in the morning has taught Tristi so much in just a few months. She feels lucky to be learning from from a veteran on the industry and one of the nicest guys you could meet. “He’s like the crazy cousin I grew up with, an unexpected new friend that I get to hang out with every day.”
Taking on a brand new career may seem impossible, but if you are open to where God leads you, have a teachable attitude and humble spirit, you can learn anything! She loves being a real life example to her kids, showing them that anything is possible with God, including waking up before 4:00 AM!
“I look forward to hearing about how God has been working in your life. I would love to hear from you, encourage you, pray with you, or just share mom stories!”
