When you hear the lyrics of “Your Love” you’ll probably be instantly reminded of the Psalms–at least, I was. In the beloved biblical song and prayer book, there are so many songs where King David or other writers communicate to God how they have experienced His love, how grateful they are for His love, and how much they love God in return. That’s the kind of sentiment you hear in Mary-Clair’s song as well.
In Psalm 63:2-6 NLT, David writes: “I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy.”
This is the heart cry of someone who knew God personally, had experienced Him in real ways, and realized that nothing in life is better than knowing God’s love, loving Him back, and having a personal friendship with Him. Nothing in life can satisfy and fulfill us like knowing God and being loved by Him. So, as you listen to this song, let it stir gratitude and joy in your heart for your own personal relationship with God. And, like David and Mary-Clair did in their songs, maybe take some time to verbalize to God how much you love Him, what His love means to you, and what you enjoy about living life in relationship with Him.
